The Department of Botany was established alongside a group of other departments affiliated with the Faculty of Science. The Botany Department represents one of the main departments within the Faculty of Science and aims to prepare generations of students and researchers in various fields of botany that align with the needs of the labor market. The department also works on enriching the educational system and contributing to the advancement of scientific and technological levels in various botanical sciences. The department teaches students from other departments in the Faculty of Science specialized courses in botany that complement their core courses. It also provides botanical consultations to public and private entities in the state.
Description
The duration of study in the department is eight semesters, consisting of 51 courses and totaling one hundred and forty-nine (149) credit hours with an average of 191 study hours. During this period, the student is awarded a bachelor's degree in Botany.
Vision
The Department of Botany at the Faculty of Science, Garyan University, aims to provide distinguished university education in the field of botany and microbiology and to supply the local and external community with competent specialists trained in work and scientific research, capable of competing in the labor market. To achieve this goal, the department continuously evaluates and develops study plans and programs, assesses performance, and ensures the quality of the educational process, while utilizing communication and advanced technology to serve the educational process.
Mission
The department is committed to preparing and developing programs aimed at producing outstanding graduates and scientific researchers at the undergraduate level. The department also provides community service, represented by offering scientific consultations or through active contributions in the field of serving the agricultural, industrial, educational, or environmental community using scientific methods and applying modern technologies.
Goals
Raising the graduate's level scientifically, whether by providing them with modern theoretical knowledge or practical skills, so that they find a good opportunity to compete in the labor market and perform well in it.
Elevating the level of scientific research produced by the department and the field – whenever possible – towards applied areas that serve society and the environment in various sectors.
Solving societal problems and contributing to environmental service through research projects and seeking unconventional sources of wealth and energy.
